Housing Minister Summons Israel Land Authority Deputy Director for Dismissal Hearing
Housing and Construction Minister Haim Katz has summoned Yehuda Eliyahu, the acting director of the Israel Land Authority (ILA), for a pre-dismissal hearing. The relationship between Minister Katz and Eliyahu has been strained for some time, but the minister cited complaints from the ILA workers' union as the primary reason for the potential dismissal.
In a letter signed by the national union chairman, Shai Yaromiyahu, and his deputy, Adv. Lilach Guterman, the union detailed several grievances. These included the cancellation of a pre-Rosh Hashanah employee event due to women singing, and Eliyahu's preference for public tenders over selecting senior ILA staff for vacant positions. The union leaders also complained about a lack of consistent communication channels between Eliyahu and the workers' committee.
Further details regarding the matter are expected to be released later.
