Smotrich Slams Katz Over Israel Land Authority Chief Hearing

Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich has sharply criticized Social Affairs Minister Haim Katz following Katz's decision to summon Yehuda Eliyahu, the head of the Israel Land Authority (ILA), for a hearing. Smotrich described Katz's move as "spilling Yehuda's blood in the public square" and accused critics of corruption, referring to them as "corrupt bosses of crates, workers' committees, and activists."

Smotrich lauded Eliyahu, calling him a professional, honest, and principled individual. He vowed that the conflict was far from over, stating, "In the next term, we will demand accountability for the ILA and the Planning Administration, eradicate the corruption of various activists, and, God willing, lead the Zionist endeavor."

According to Smotrich, this action is crucial for the economy, for lowering housing costs, and for the Judaization of the Negev and Galilee regions. The dispute highlights internal tensions within the government regarding appointments and control over key national resources.
