Iran Launches Missiles at Jordan After US Destroys Oil Tankers

The U.S. military destroyed five Iranian oil tankers linked to the Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in the Gulf of Oman late Tuesday night, releasing footage of the strikes. This action was a response to two failed attempts by Iran to target a U.S. Navy warship with ballistic missiles, which the vessel successfully evaded. In retaliation for the destruction of the tankers, Iran launched a barrage of missiles toward the region. The Jordanian army announced it had intercepted 18 out of 20 ballistic missiles fired from Iranian territory, with the remaining two falling in open areas without causing casualties.

A U.S. source told i24NEWS that the U.S. has destroyed a total of ten Iranian oil tankers linked to the IRGC over the past week, in response to Iranian attempts to attack U.S. warships. The IRGC claimed that for every two or three Iranian targets hit, they would retaliate by attacking twenty enemy targets, demanding Washington cease interfering with their nuclear and missile capabilities.

Meanwhile, satellite imagery analyzed by experts indicates diverse construction activities at Iran's nuclear site on Mount Al-Fas this year. Oil prices have risen, with a barrel now costing over $100. In Gaza, the Israeli military reported destroying three weapons depots and a missile launch pit used to fire rockets at Israel during the war. Shipping traffic through the Strait of Hormuz has decreased, with only six vessels passing on Tuesday compared to a daily average of twelve in the preceding ten days.
