The United States military conducted strikes against Iranian oil tankers near the Iranian ports of Kharg and Jask, according to U.S. officials speaking to Fox News. In response to the tanker attacks, Iran launched a significant missile barrage, firing at least 35 ballistic missiles toward U.S. bases in Jordan. Iranian state media reported the launches originated from 12 different locations across the country, describing it as one of the heaviest volleys since the end of Operation "Lion's Roar." The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps claimed responsibility, stating the missiles targeted hangars and staging areas for F-35, F-15, and F-16 aircraft at the Al-Azraq base in Jordan, causing substantial damage.

Air raid sirens were activated in several areas of Jordan, and missile interceptions were reported near bases housing U.S. forces. The New York Times reported that American soldiers sustained injuries during the attack. Iran had previously warned of a strong response to any further harm to its ships, with a spokesperson for Khatam al-Anbiya Headquarters stating that Iranian armed forces would "powerfully attack U.S. bases and interests in the region" if Iranian vessels were targeted.
