Israel Strikes Hamas, Islamic Jihad Arms Depots and Rocket Launcher in Gaza
The Israeli military and Shin Bet conducted strikes across the Gaza Strip on Tuesday, destroying three weapons storage sites belonging to Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad. Additionally, a rocket launching pit, from which rockets were fired into Israel during the war, was eliminated. According to a joint statement from the IDF and Shin Bet, the depots contained dozens of weapons, including rockets, Kalashnikov rifles, and other combat equipment used by the terror groups.
Security officials identified recent activity by Hamas operatives accessing these sites to retrieve weapons for guard posts and to re-establish the organization's control in Gaza. The strikes are part of ongoing efforts to prevent Hamas and Islamic Jihad from rebuilding their military capabilities and to thwart attempts to stockpile weapons that could be used against IDF forces or Israeli territory.
The IDF stated that forces in the Southern Command are deployed in the area according to agreement and will continue to operate to neutralize any immediate threats. The military further affirmed its commitment to decisively degrade the capabilities of terror organizations and prevent any attempts at their rehabilitation.
