IDF Reports Hamas Rebuilding Arsenal, Consolidating Control in Gaza
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced on Tuesday that Hamas militants have been observed accessing weapons depots across the Gaza Strip, retrieving arms to reinforce their control and conduct security patrols. In response, the IDF and the Shin Bet security agency conducted targeted strikes, destroying three Hamas and Islamic Jihad weapons storage facilities.
These facilities reportedly contained dozens of weapons, including rockets, Kalashnikov rifles, and other military equipment. Additionally, a rocket launching pit used during the recent conflict was destroyed. The IDF stated that these actions are part of an ongoing effort to prevent terrorist organizations from rebuilding their capabilities and re-establishing their strength in Gaza.
According to the joint IDF and Shin Bet statement, the retrieved weapons were being used by Hamas operatives for guard duties as they work to solidify their authority within the territory. The IDF emphasized that forces in the southern command are deployed in the area and will continue to operate against attempts by terrorist groups to restore their military infrastructure and influence.
