IDF Strikes Hamas Weapons Depots Amid Re-arming Efforts

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have identified a concerning shift in Hamas's conduct within the Gaza Strip, as the terrorist organization is reportedly re-arming and consolidating its military control. Security officials confirm that Hamas operatives are retrieving weapons from storage facilities, utilizing them for guard duties and strengthening their grip on areas under their control. These actions appear to contravene commitments made as part of a ceasefire agreement.

In response to these developments, the IDF, guided by the Shin Bet security agency, conducted strikes on three Hamas weapons storage sites and a rocket launch pit on Tuesday. The targeted storage facilities contained dozens of weapons, including light arms, combat equipment, and rockets. The destroyed launch pit had previously been used to fire rockets at Israel.

Over the past week, the IDF's Southern Command has carried out 16 targeted attacks against Hamas infrastructure and command elements, resulting in the elimination of 14 militants, including five company commanders and four platoon commanders. Security officials also note an increase in Hamas's motivation to confront IDF forces, evidenced by actions such as launching incendiary kites, firing at IDF troops along the Gaza border fence, and detonating explosive devices against engineering vehicles.
