Health Ministry Warns of Rabies Cases in Beit Aryeh and Ali Settlements

Israel's Ministry of Health has issued a warning following the diagnosis of two rabies cases in the settlements of Beit Aryeh and Ali. A dog found infected in Beit Aryeh, specifically in the vicinity of HaZait and Tirosh streets, and a dog in Ali were confirmed to have rabies. Consequently, eleven individuals who had contact with these animals have been directed to receive preventative treatment. The infected dog in Beit Aryeh is described as a medium to large-sized mixed breed, brown with white markings on its neck and muzzle. The dog in Ali is a medium to large-sized Canaan dog, white with brown spots.

The Ministry urges anyone who came into contact with either animal, or whose pets may have interacted with them, to promptly contact the nearest health bureau to assess the need for preventative care. Individuals who were in contact with the infected dog in Beit Aryeh between August 22 and September 5, 2026, are asked to call the Ramla District Health Bureau at 08-9181202. Those who had contact with the infected dog in Ali between September 1 and September 5, 2026, should also call the same number. Outside of operating hours and on weekends, individuals should report to a hospital emergency room.

Parents are specifically advised to check with their children about any recent contact with suspicious animals and seek medical advice if necessary. Pet owners are instructed to contact their local veterinarian to ensure their animals are vaccinated against rabies. The public is also encouraged to share this information with travelers and residents in nearby areas.
