Rabies Cases Confirmed in Dogs in Beit Aryeh and Eli Settlements
Israel's Ministry of Health has reported two confirmed cases of rabies in dogs, one in the settlement of Beit Aryeh and another in Eli. In Beit Aryeh, a medium-to-large mixed-breed dog, brown with white markings on its neck and muzzle, was found to be infected. Nine people were exposed to this dog between August 22 and September 5. In Eli, a medium-to-large Canaan dog, white with brown spots, tested positive for rabies. Two people were exposed to this dog between September 1 and September 5.
The Ministry of Health is urging anyone who had contact with the infected dogs, or whose pets may have come into contact with them or other stray animals in the vicinity, to seek immediate medical attention. Individuals who were in Beit Aryeh between August 22 and September 5, or in Eli between September 1 and September 5, and had potential contact, are advised to contact the Regional Health Office in Ramla at 08-9181202.
