Grand Rabbi of Belz Leads Penitential Prayers Amidst Health Concerns
Tens of thousands of Belz Hasidim gathered early Sunday morning for the first penitential prayers of the season, led by their Grand Rabbi. However, the community was informed that the Rabbi would not be able to officiate due to illness.
His only son, Rabbi Aharon Mordechai Rokeach, stepped in to lead the prayers. He reportedly delivered the liturgy with a moving voice, visibly emotional.
The event, which drew vast numbers of followers, took place as the Hasidic community prepared for the High Holy Days.
