Belz Rebbe Hospitalized for Medical Tests After Feeling Unwell
The Grand Rabbi of Belz, Rabbi Yissachar Dov Rokeach, was admitted to Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital in Jerusalem on Sunday morning for a series of medical tests after feeling unwell. Concern for the health of the Hasidic leader began earlier when he unexpectedly missed the traditional Selichot prayers at the community's main synagogue in Jerusalem, which were attended by tens of thousands of followers.
His son, Rabbi Aharon Mordechai Rokeach, led the prayers approximately five hours after the scheduled time. Following the service, thousands of Hasidim gathered to recite Psalms for the Rebbe's recovery. The Hasidic community is calling on the public to pray for his complete recovery. His Hebrew name for prayers is Yissachar Dov ben Miriam.
