Belz Rebbe Hospitalized for Medical Tests Amidst Followers' Prayers

Thousands of Belz Hasidim in Jerusalem gathered for the initial Selichot prayers but were met with a prolonged wait, eventually learning their Rebbe, Rabbi Yissachar Dov, had been admitted to Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital for medical examinations. The congregants waited for approximately five hours at the Grand Synagogue before deciding to commence the prayers without his presence. Later that evening, the official announcement confirmed the Rebbe's hospitalization for tests.

Upon hearing the news, the thousands of Hasidim remaining at the synagogue began reciting Psalms for his complete recovery. This event occurs during a particularly sensitive period for the Belz Hasidic community, just weeks before the High Holy Days, including Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur.

Recently, a significant change was announced regarding the Rebbe's prayer location for the upcoming holidays. He is set to occupy a specially constructed elevated platform on the steps of the Holy Ark. This adjustment aims to manage the expected crowds and prevent overcrowding during the High Holy Day services, which are anticipated to draw tens of thousands of followers to the main synagogue.

Last week, a special Selichot event was held in Belz, attended by thousands of young men and alumni of the 'Tzohar' organization, along with the Belz Rebbe, Sephardic Chief Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef, and Rabbi Yitzchak Dovid Grossman. This event reportedly generated considerable excitement within the Hasidic world.

The Belz Hasidic community is closely monitoring their Rebbe's health and urging continued prayers and recitation of Psalms for his well-being and that of their leader.
