Belz Rebbe Hospitalized, Son Leads Penitential Prayers

Kikar HaShabbatReligious
Translated & summarized from Kikar HaShabbat by baba
The story · English

Tens of thousands of Belz Hasidim gathered early Sunday morning at the Great Synagogue in Jerusalem for the first penitential prayers, Selichot, led by the Rebbe. However, after several hours of waiting, an announcement came from the Rebbe's household stating he was suffering from severe weakness and would not be able to lead the prayers as usual.

Following medical advice, the Rebbe was transferred to the hospital for tests and medical treatment. The news of his hospitalization created a tense atmosphere in the synagogue.

His only son, Rabbi Aharon Mordechai Rokach, stepped in to lead the Selichot prayers, with the Hasidim joining in fervent prayer. Belz communities worldwide were urged to pray for the complete and swift recovery of the Rebbe, Rabbi Yissachar Dov, son of Miriam, along with all the sick among Israel.
