Border Police Officer Fatally Shot by Police in Netanya After Firing at Homes
Israeli police confirmed that a 20-year-old Border Police officer, David Hoyer Amrani, on active duty, was fatally shot by security forces in Netanya. Amrani, who was off-duty and in civilian clothes, reportedly fired a long-barreled weapon at residential buildings in the Kiryat Hasharon neighborhood for reasons yet to be determined. A large police contingent responded to the scene and engaged in a firefight with Amrani, ultimately neutralizing him. Initial reports indicated he was wounded, but it was later confirmed he had died. While post-traumatic stress disorder is being considered as a possible motive, the Ministry of Defense's wounded soldiers unit stated that Amrani was not registered with them and had not sought assistance.
