Security Officer Killed by Police After Opening Fire in Netanya

A serious incident occurred Saturday evening in Netanya, where a security forces member, approximately 20 years old, opened fire on police officers in the Kiryat HaSharon neighborhood. Police returned fire, neutralizing the assailant, whose death was later confirmed. No other individuals were injured in the exchange.

Initial reports suggest the deceased was an active-duty combat soldier. Large police forces from the Central District, including District Commander Superintendent Amir Cohen, arrived at the scene. The circumstances surrounding the shooting are currently under investigation.

Idan Kliman, chairman of the Disabled IDF Veterans Organization, commented on the event, stating, "The difficult incident tonight in Netanya requires a full and in-depth investigation." He added, "Beyond the circumstances of the incident itself, this is another wake-up call for the State of Israel. It must not abandon the tens of thousands of combat soldiers who continue to deal with the battle long after they have returned from the battlefield."
