Man Dies, Another Injured in Vehicle Rollover Near Laqya
A 40-year-old man, Ayman Salim Al-Atawneh from Hura in the Negev, died and another 35-year-old man sustained minor injuries when their vehicle overturned on a dirt road near the town of Laqya late Friday night into Saturday. Magen David Adom paramedics arriving at the scene found a severely damaged vehicle. The deceased was found outside the car, unconscious and without vital signs. Paramedics provided initial treatment to the second man, who was then transported to Soroka Hospital in Be'er Sheva for further care. Medical personnel described the deceased's injuries as critical.
The police have launched an investigation into the circumstances and causes of the rollover in the wooded area. According to the National Road Safety Authority, 303 people have died in road accidents in Israel since the beginning of the year, including 120 Arab citizens, indicating a continued rise in road fatalities.
