Israel Completes Hezbollah Tunnel Complex Clearance, Braces for Retaliation

The Israeli military has concluded its operation to clear a large underground Hezbollah complex on the Ali Taher ridge, reporting that no militants were left alive. The extensive subterranean facility, built over two decades with Iranian funding and planning, included command centers, weapons storage, generators, and living quarters, enabling prolonged combat operations. The IDF stated that neutralizing these facilities has thwarted Hezbollah's ability to execute terror plans against Israel.

Following the operation, which was kept under a media blackout until completion, Israel is now preparing for potential escalation. Hezbollah has reportedly appealed to Iran to intervene and halt Israel's actions, while Tehran has threatened retaliation if the operation continues. Israeli defense officials assess a moderate, though not high, likelihood of limited escalation or intense fighting in the north.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu praised the operation, stating that the Ali Taher ridge, which had long threatened Israel, is no longer a menace. He noted that many terrorists were eliminated there. The IDF is now planning to redeploy its defensive forces along the "Blue Line," the border demarcation with Lebanon, based on ongoing assessments.

Defense officials are closely monitoring Hezbollah's attempts to involve Iran, viewing it as part of an effort to rebuild the Shiite axis weakened in recent years. Despite the threats, Israel maintains a high state of alert and is coordinating closely with the United States, signaling readiness to respond forcefully if necessary.
