Israel Forces Secure Hezbollah Tunnels in Southern Lebanon

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced on Thursday the completion of securing two strategic Hezbollah underground facilities located in the Ali Taher ridge area of southern Lebanon. The military is continuing operations to neutralize these installations. According to the IDF spokesperson, soldiers from the 36th Division have gained operational control of the area, both above and below ground, following clashes with Hezbollah operatives. Some militants were eliminated, while others fled.

The IDF stated that Hezbollah was using these tunnels to prepare and conduct attacks against Israel and Israeli forces. Recent operations have reportedly neutralized the tunnels' capacity for launching such assaults. Inside the tunnels, soldiers discovered command posts, weapons storage rooms, generators, living quarters, showers, and a kitchen, enabling militants to direct combat and remain underground for extended periods.

The IDF described the complex as a strategic infrastructure built over the past two decades, financed and planned by Iran. Neutralization operations are ongoing. Following their completion, the IDF will implement new defensive deployments based on its assessment of the situation. The army reiterated its commitment to securing the southern Lebanon border and preventing Hezbollah from preparing attacks, warning of a strong response to any aggression. The IDF also reaffirmed its commitment to the ceasefire agreement in Lebanon.
