IDF Captures Key Hezbollah Stronghold in Southern Lebanon

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have completed an operation to seize a strategic location in southern Lebanon, previously controlled by Hezbollah. Soldiers from the IDF's 36th Division conducted a large-scale operation over recent weeks to locate and destroy Hezbollah's underground infrastructure in the Al-Tahir mountain range.

The army has established operational control over the area, both above and below ground, subsequently clearing the territory. Some militants were eliminated, while others managed to escape. The destruction of the discovered underground facilities is ongoing. Following the operation, the IDF plans to reassess unit positions and defensive lines based on future developments.

According to Israeli sources, the underground infrastructure had been under development for over 20 years, with financial and strategic support from Iran. The complex included command posts, weapons storage, generators, living quarters, kitchens, and showers, enabling militants to remain in the area for extended periods.

"IDF forces continue to operate to clear the security zone in southern Lebanon and will not allow the Hezbollah terrorist organization to carry out terrorist operations against them. Any attempt by the Hezbollah terrorist organization to act against IDF forces will receive a strong response. The IDF continues to adhere to the ceasefire agreement in Lebanon," stated the IDF. Earlier reports indicated that the IDF operation in the Al-Tahir area was ongoing, with preliminary estimates suggesting the elimination of many Hezbollah militants.
