Gal Gadot Sells Mac and Cheese Brand Goodles to Italian Pasta Giant Barilla
Italian pasta giant Barilla has announced an agreement to acquire Goodles, the American mac and cheese brand co-founded by Israeli actress Gal Gadot and her husband, Jaron Varsano. The terms of the deal have not been disclosed, and its completion is subject to regulatory approval. It remains unclear how Gadot will be involved with the brand post-acquisition.
Goodles was established with the aim of offering a healthier, upgraded version of mac and cheese, a popular comfort food in the U.S. The brand marketed itself as a protein and fiber-rich alternative and successfully expanded into major American retail chains. Following the acquisition, Goodles will continue to operate as an independent brand with its headquarters in Santa Cruz, California. The company's CEO and co-founder, Jen Zسut, will remain in charge of the 73-person team.
Guido Barilla, Chairman of the Barilla Group, stated that the company had been observing Goodles and was impressed by its brand strength, product quality, and business momentum. He believes the acquisition presents an opportunity for further growth under an established international food group. Zسut expressed that most Americans have yet to try Goodles products, indicating significant growth potential. She added that Barilla was chosen to enable the brand's expansion, innovation, and future market reach while preserving product quality and company identity.
For Gadot, who has been diversifying her business ventures beyond acting, this represents a significant milestone. The move transfers the brand she co-founded to one of the world's largest pasta groups, though her future involvement remains uncertain.
