Gal Gadot and Husband Sell Mac and Cheese Brand Goodles to Italian Food Giant Barilla
Italian food giant Barilla is acquiring Goodles, the American mac and cheese brand co-founded by Israeli actress Gal Gadot and her husband, Yaron Varsano. The deal, reported on Thursday, brings the brand under the umbrella of one of the world's largest pasta companies. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed, and Gadot's future involvement with the brand post-acquisition remains unclear.
Goodles was established in 2020 as Gooder Foods with the aim of offering a healthier version of the popular American comfort food. Alongside Gadot and Varsano, Jen Zuker, the brand's co-founder and CEO, has led the company since its inception. Following regulatory approval, Goodles is expected to continue operating as an independent brand with its headquarters remaining in Santa Cruz, California.
Barilla stated that they had been monitoring Goodles and were impressed by its products and growth. Guido Barilla, chairman of the Barilla Group, noted that meeting the company's management solidified their decision to proceed with the acquisition. Goodles views the deal as a significant opportunity for expansion, with Zuker highlighting that over 90% of Americans have yet to try their products, indicating substantial growth potential.
Zuker explained that Barilla was chosen to facilitate Goodles' innovation, growth, and international market expansion while preserving the brand's quality. She believes the partnership will allow Goodles to reach new heights.
