Iran Warns US Over Israeli Operation in Lebanon; Hezbollah Seeks Iranian Escalation

Iran has reportedly warned the United States that it will respond forcefully if Israel attempts to attack the Ali Taher mountain ridge in southern Lebanon, where Hezbollah operatives are reportedly entrenched. According to a Reuters report, at least 12 Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps members, including two senior officers, are also believed to be hiding in the area alongside the Lebanese militants. However, the Israeli military stated it is unaware of any Iranian presence on the ridge.

Israeli security officials assess that Hezbollah is attempting to draw Iran into a wider conflict with Israel. Meanwhile, the IDF continues its intensive operations on the Ali Taher ridge, dismantling Hezbollah's infrastructure and underground tunnel networks. The military reports significant Hezbollah casualties within the tunnels and the escape of some militants. The operation aims to neutralize the remaining threat and prevent any regrouping.

The Ali Taher ridge, standing at approximately 700 meters, offers strategic topographical advantages, overlooking key access routes. Hezbollah's "Badr" unit command post was reportedly located there. The IDF has maintained a prolonged siege on the area, with reports suggesting dozens of militants, possibly including Iranian IRGC-affiliated individuals, are trapped.

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant stated that any Iranian attack against Israel would free Jerusalem from all limitations, vowing to strike all Iranian infrastructure, including energy facilities. He suggested that economic pressure and fears of internal unrest might push the Iranian regime towards desperate actions. Gallant emphasized Israel's readiness for all scenarios.

The operation, while tactically challenging due to the fortified underground system, is proceeding with gradual pressure to minimize risks to soldiers. The potential presence of Iranian personnel adds significant regional and international sensitivity, raising concerns about further escalation with Tehran. The IDF maintains it has the capabilities to fully neutralize the area but awaits a directive from the political echelon.
