A senior pharmacist and another pharmacist, employed as external suppliers at the Glilot military camp, have been arrested on suspicion of stealing tens of thousands of medications intended for soldiers and selling them on the black market for tens of thousands of shekels. The joint announcement came from the police, the Ministry of Defense, and the IDF.

The covert investigation, conducted over recent months by the Erezim Major Crimes Unit within the Defense Ministry's Security Department and military police (MP), was overseen by the Ministry of Health. Findings indicated that the two allegedly defrauded the system to obtain numerous prescription drugs and systematically sold them.

The investigation became public with the arrests. The pharmacists are accused of theft by an authorized person, receiving goods under aggravated circumstances, negligence, and violations of the Pharmacists Ordinance. They are scheduled to appear in the Tel Aviv Magistrate's Court for a hearing on extending their detention.

Concurrently, police have detained additional suspects for questioning, and the involvement of other individuals is being investigated by military police. The Ministry of Health emphasized that "trading in prescription drugs and those requiring medical examinations poses a real danger to public health."
