Two Pharmacists Arrested for Stealing and Selling IDF Soldier Medications

Israeli police, the Ministry of Defense, and the IDF have uncovered a scheme involving the theft and illicit sale of tens of thousands of medications intended for soldiers. Two experienced pharmacists, employed as external suppliers by the Ministry of Defense at the Glilot military base, are accused of stealing these prescription drugs and systematically selling them on the black market.

A covert investigation, conducted over several months by the Israel Police's Erezim unit in conjunction with the Military Police's Dan region unit, focused on the two pharmacists. Evidence suggests they defrauded the military of numerous medications, including prescription drugs, and profited tens of thousands of shekels from their illegal sales.

Following the investigation's transition to an open phase, the two pharmacists were arrested at the Glilot base and brought in for questioning. They face charges including theft by an authorized person, receiving goods under aggravated circumstances, reckless endangerment, and violations of the Pharmacists Ordinance. Their detention is expected to be extended by the Tel Aviv Magistrate's Court.

Additional suspects have been detained for questioning, and the Military Police are investigating further individuals for alleged theft and aiding in fraud. The Military Prosecution is handling the cases of those implicated. Authorities emphasized that the sale of prescription medications without proper oversight poses a significant public health risk.
