Two IDF Pharmacists Arrested for Stealing and Selling Drugs

Two veteran pharmacists employed at the Glilot military camp have been arrested on suspicion of systematically stealing tens of thousands of medications intended for Israel Defense Forces (IDF) soldiers. The stolen pharmaceuticals, some of which require a prescription, were allegedly sold on the black market, netting the suspects tens of thousands of shekels. The investigation, which recently became public, led to the arrest of the two individuals, identified as a responsible pharmacist and another pharmacist working as external contractors for the Ministry of Defense.

Authorities suspect the pharmacists defrauded the system by taking medications meant for soldiers and selling them outside of official channels. They are being investigated for theft by an authorized person, obtaining property by fraud under aggravated circumstances, reckless acts, and violations of the Pharmacists Ordinance.

Following their arrest, the pharmacists were transferred for questioning. The Military Police are also investigating additional suspects for their alleged involvement in theft and aiding in fraud. The police are expected to request an extension of the arrested pharmacists' detention at the Tel Aviv Magistrate's Court.
