Former IDF Soldier Charged with Planning to Join ISIS
An indictment was filed against Khamis Suaed, a resident of the Bedouin village of Husniya in the Galilee, who allegedly expressed identification with the Islamic State (ISIS) and trained with the intention of joining the terrorist group abroad. Suaed, in his 30s, faces charges including supporting a terrorist organization and engaging in military training for such purposes.
According to the investigation, since 2023 until his arrest in August, Suaed, a former Israel Defense Forces (IDF) soldier, showed increasing interest in ISIS and developed ideological identification with the organization. In 2024, he decided to travel to Syria or Africa to join the group's ranks, consuming instructional content from its leaders and saving money for his travel.
During the past year, Suaed downloaded guides and watched videos on the production of missiles and drones, the use of weapons, and military tactics. He reportedly conducted training sessions aimed at advancing the organization's activities, all before his apprehension.
