Northern Resident Indicted for ISIS Sympathies and Terror Training
An indictment was filed Wednesday against Khamis Suaed, a resident of Husniya in the Galilee in his 30s, who expressed identification with the Islamic State (ISIS) terror organization. Suaed was arrested in recent weeks following a joint investigation by the Galilee District Central Unit and the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency).
During his interrogation, Suaed revealed that he had studied and trained with the intention of joining ISIS and fighting abroad for the terror group. The investigation also found that the accused watched instructional content on combat, weapons use, and the manufacturing of drones and missiles for terror purposes.
The Haifa District Prosecutor's Office filed the indictment against Suaed at the Haifa Magistrate's Court and requested his detention until the legal proceedings conclude. A joint statement from the police and Shin Bet affirmed their commitment to combating any activity that endangers the state and its citizens, particularly efforts by Israelis to act on behalf of terror organizations against Israelis, vowing to continue thwarting such activities.
