Otzma Yehudit Ultimatum to Likud Over MK Gottlieb's Party Switch

Otzma Yehudit Chairman and National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir issued a sharp ultimatum to senior Likud officials on Wednesday, demanding immediate action if they wish to facilitate MK Tali Gottlieb's transfer to his party. Ben-Gvir stated that if Likud intends to proceed with Gottlieb's move to Otzma Yehudit, the necessary legal and technical procedures must be completed by the end of the day. "Otherwise, the window of opportunity closes for me, and I will begin notifying candidates about their placement on the list, after which it will be too late," Ben-Gvir warned.

The minister indicated his intention to start informing Otzma Yehudit's candidates of their positions on the party's Knesset list on Wednesday, a move that would complicate any subsequent changes. This message comes amid claims from Otzma Yehudit sources that, contrary to media reports, Likud has not taken practical steps to advance Gottlieb's transfer. Otzma Yehudit also alleges that Likud has undermined various initiatives aimed at facilitating the move, suggesting the party might be seeking further concessions.

However, the deal's certainty remains in question, with some within Otzma Yehudit reportedly opposing it. Gottlieb herself has stated that Prime Minister Netanyahu does not want her in Likud, despite her loyalty. The situation highlights ongoing political maneuvering as parties prepare their lists for upcoming elections.
