Gabi Kaniykouski Returns to Maccabi Tel Aviv on Four-Year Deal

Maccabi Tel Aviv has officially announced the signing of midfielder Gabi Kaniykouski, who returns to the club on a four-year contract. The 28-year-old Israeli international, a product of Maccabi's youth academy, previously played for the club from 2021 to 2023, winning two league championships before transferring to Hungarian side Ferencváros. He reunites with former coach Robbie Keane, who also managed him during his first stint at Maccabi Tel Aviv.

Kaniykouski was a regular starter for Ferencváros, contributing significantly to their Europa League qualifying matches this season. During his time in Hungary, he also secured a third consecutive league title, winning the Hungarian championship in his first year with the club. He played alongside fellow Israeli player Moanes Dabour before Dabour's move to Red Star Belgrade.

Maccabi Tel Aviv's midfield has been weakened by a long-term injury to Christian Blic, leaving the team with limited options. Kaniykouski's return is seen as a significant reinforcement for the team's midfield, especially as the club is reportedly preparing to part ways with other key players. His signing is considered a strong statement of intent from the club.
