Gabi Kaniykavsky Returns to Maccabi Tel Aviv on Four-Year Deal

Gabi Kaniykavsky, 28, has officially returned to Maccabi Tel Aviv, signing a four-year contract with the club. Kaniykavsky, who came up through Maccabi's youth academy, previously played for the team from 2017 to 2021, winning two consecutive league championships. He then moved to Ferencváros in Hungary, where he also won a league title and played in Europa League qualifying matches this season.

Kaniykavsky's return is seen as a significant boost for Maccabi Tel Aviv's midfield, which has been weakened by a long-term injury to Kristian Blic. The club reportedly has limited options in the midfield, making Kaniykavsky's signing a strategic move. His return also signals strong intentions from the club, especially as they are expected to part ways with other key players.

During his previous tenure, Kaniykavsky played under coach Robby Keane and won two league titles. In Hungary, he played alongside fellow Israeli player Moanes Dabour before Dabour transferred to Red Star Belgrade. Kaniykavsky initially left Maccabi Tel Aviv upon the expiration of his contract in 2021, joining Ferencváros on a free transfer.
