Two Northern Israeli Teens Charged for ISIS Allegiance and Terror Plots at Temple Mount and IDF Base

Israeli authorities announced indictments against two northern Israeli residents, aged 16 and 19, who pledged allegiance to ISIS and planned attacks targeting security forces at the Temple Mount and an IDF base in northern Israel. The 16-year-old minor from the Galilee was arrested on August 4 after investigations revealed he sought bomb-making instructions online to carry out attacks against Jewish soldiers and police at the Temple Mount. Days later, Ibrahim Kaabia, a 19-year-old from Haifa, was detained on suspicion of also pledging loyalty to ISIS and planning an attack on an IDF base in the north.

The Haifa District Prosecutor's Office will file indictments and request the continued detention of both suspects at the Haifa District Court. The Shin Bet and Israeli Police emphasized their commitment to combating any Israeli citizen involvement in activities threatening national security. Kaabia's lawyer, Sohad Aga Dahleh, described him as a promising student and family man shocked by the allegations, asserting that his interactions with ISIS content stemmed from youthful curiosity without intent to harm the state. She noted no terror plans were attributed to him during his detention phase.

This case highlights ongoing security concerns regarding radicalization among Israeli youth and the vigilance of Israeli security agencies in preventing terrorist acts within the country.
