Two Northern Israeli Residents Charged for ISIS Allegiance and Terror Plot at Temple Mount and IDF Base

Israeli police and the Shin Bet announced charges against two northern Israeli residents, including a 16-year-old minor and a 19-year-old man, for swearing allegiance to the terrorist organization ISIS and planning attacks against security forces. The minor, from the Galilee, was arrested earlier this month after it was discovered he had pledged loyalty to ISIS and was researching bomb-making instructions online. He intended to carry out an attack targeting police and soldiers at the Temple Mount.

A few days after the minor's arrest, Ibrahim Kaabiya, 19, from Haifa, was detained on suspicion of also pledging allegiance to ISIS and planning an attack on an IDF base in northern Israel. Following the conclusion of their investigations, the Haifa District Prosecutor's Office is expected to file indictments and request that both suspects remain in custody until the end of legal proceedings.

Authorities emphasized the seriousness with which they treat any involvement of Israeli citizens in activities that threaten national security and stated they will use all available means to prosecute those involved in such plots.
