Israel Police announced on Tuesday that all main roads leading to and from the southern city of Eilat have been closed due to severe flooding in the Arava and Negev regions. As of 3:15 PM, the city is completely isolated from land vehicle traffic in both directions. The northern entrance and exit to Eilat on Highway 90, near the Arava junction, and Highway 12 have been shut down. These closures are in addition to other major routes closed earlier in the day, including Highway 40 between the Mitzpe Ramon and Ketura junctions, and Highway 13 between the Menucha and Tzehron junctions.
Despite the complete road closures, a special exception has been made to allow departures from Eilat solely for travel to Ramon Airport. Numerous police forces are currently deployed on the affected routes to manage traffic and ensure public safety. Police are urging drivers to avoid the closed roads, exercise patience, and follow officers' instructions.
