צה"ל ושב"כ עצרו הבוקר (14 בספטמבר) בגדה המערבית, בעיר טול כרם, בכיר בתנועת פת"ח, מוחמד איברהים אבו ואחבה שחאדה. שחאדה, שבו נחשד בשבועות האחרונים, נעצר במסגרת מבצע משותף של כוחות הביטחון, שבו השתתפו לוחמי יחידת דובדבן ויחידות נוספות.

על פי גורמי הביטחון, שחאדה חשוד במעורבות פעילה בפעילות טרור, כולל תכנון והוצאה לפועל של פיגועים, וכן בסחר בלתי חוקי בנשק באזור. לאחר מעצרו, הוא הועבר לחקירה.

בצה"ל הדגישו כי כוחות הביטחון ימשיכו בפעילות מניעה בגדה המערבית במטרה לסכל טרור ולהגן על אזרחי ישראל.
