צה"ל ושב"כ עצרו הבוקר (שני) את מחמד אבראהים עא והאב שחאדה, בכיר בתנועת פת"ח באזור טולכרם, במסגרת פעילות מבצעית משותפת של כוחות מיחידת דובדבן בפיקוד חטיבת אפרים. המעצר בוצע לאחר מצוד מודיעיני ומבצעי שנמשך בשבועות האחרונים, במהלכו נאספו ראיות נגד שחאדה, החשוד במעורבות עמוקה בפעילות טרור, תכנון וביצוע פיגועים, וכן בסחר בנשק.

במערכת הביטחון הדגישו כי הפעילות ההתקפית ביהודה ושומרון תימשך במטרה לסכל איומים ולשמור על ביטחונם של אזרחי ישראל ותושבי האזור.
