18-Year-Old Arrested for Assaulting Bus Driver in Modi'in Illit

An 18-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assaulting a public bus driver on the route from Bnei Brak to Modi'in Illit. The incident occurred during the night between Wednesday and Thursday, when the driver reported being attacked and required medical treatment for his injuries. According to police, the suspect broke through the protective partition and struck the driver with punches and kicks while bystanders watched.

Modi'in Illit police investigators in the Shomron area worked to locate the suspect. After several unsuccessful attempts to find him at his home, the suspect surrendered himself on Monday evening at the Bnei Brak police station. He was taken in for questioning on charges of assaulting a public servant and causing significant bodily harm. Following the investigation, he was detained.

The next day, the suspect was brought before the court, which extended his detention by three days until August 27 to allow for further investigation. The police inquiry into the assault is ongoing.
