IDF Chief Visits Gaza, Vows to Eliminate Perpetrators of October 7 Attacks and Disarm Hamas

Israel Defense Forces Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir conducted a frontline visit to the Gaza Strip on Tuesday alongside Southern Command Chief Major General Yaniv Asor, Gaza Division Commander Brigadier General Liron Batito, and other brigade and battalion commanders. During the tour, the commanders reviewed the operational situation, with Zamir emphasizing that the IDF is implementing lessons learned and changing its approach to ensure that "the IDF will not return to October 6."

Zamir stressed that the pursuit of militants involved in the October 7 massacre remains a top priority, stating that anyone who participated will be relentlessly hunted until eliminated. He noted that the IDF has been engaged for about three years in a complex multi-front campaign, achieving significant successes, but the conflict is not yet over. The military is actively working to achieve the overarching goal of disarming the Gaza Strip and dismantling Hamas’s weapons by all necessary means.

The visit underscored a clear message that Israel will not tolerate threats and will prevent enemies in Gaza, Lebanon, and other fronts from rebuilding or establishing terror infrastructure. The IDF will seize every opportunity to neutralize emerging threats. During the visit, Zamir met with fighters from the Givati Brigade, Brigade 401, and the 11th Brigade’s reserve battalion, which has been mobilized for a 90-day rotation. He expressed deep appreciation for their determined and precise operations on the ground and acknowledged the exceptional burdens placed on reservists and their families.
