IDF Chief Visits Gaza, Vows Continued Pressure on Hamas and No Tolerance for Threats

Israel Defense Forces Chief of Staff Aviv Kochavi conducted a frontline visit to the Gaza Strip on Tuesday, accompanied by Southern Command Chief Major General Yaniv Asor, Gaza Division Commander Brigadier General Liron Batito, and other brigade and battalion commanders. During the visit, commanders briefed Kochavi on the operational situation and ongoing military activities in the area. Kochavi praised the troops for their efforts in defending Israeli civilians.

Kochavi reflected on the nearly three years since the October 7 attacks, highlighting the IDF’s ongoing multi-front campaign across Gaza, the West Bank, Lebanon, Syria, Iran, and other arenas. He emphasized the IDF’s significant achievements in weakening enemy forces and infrastructure, stressing that the conflict is far from over.

Regarding Gaza, Kochavi reiterated the IDF’s primary objective to disarm Hamas and dismantle its military capabilities by all necessary means. He affirmed the continued pursuit of those involved in the October 7 massacre, describing it as a long-term mission with full commitment from the command and the entire IDF.

Kochavi underscored that lessons have been learned from past failures, stating, "There will be no tolerance for threats." He vowed to prevent Hamas from rebuilding or establishing terror infrastructure and to act decisively to neutralize emerging threats. He also acknowledged the concerns of local residents and assured that the IDF is prepared to protect them and thwart terror activities.

Concluding the visit, Kochavi noted the progress made by Southern Command and Gaza Division forces, praising their precise and relentless operations. He also recognized the challenges faced by reservists from Brigade 11, currently mobilized for 90 days, and reaffirmed the IDF’s commitment to supporting them and their families.
