Young Man Moderately Wounded in Suspected Stabbing Attack Near Jordan Valley Village

A man in his 20s was moderately injured in a stabbing attack on Sunday morning near the village of Auja in the Jordan Valley. Israeli military and police forces were dispatched to the scene, and the suspect fled, prompting an ongoing manhunt. The victim, reportedly a young man who had stopped in the village for shopping, was stabbed in the upper body and was conscious when treated by Magen David Adom (MDA) paramedics. He was evacuated to Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem.

The stabbing was reported at 09:18 to MDA’s emergency center in the Gilboa region. Emergency medic Gal Shani described the victim as fully conscious with a moderate injury. This attack follows a period of relative calm in the region, with no significant attacks in recent weeks.

Earlier incidents include a serious stabbing of Itamar Cohen, 51, near Alon Moreh about a month ago, and another stabbing near the settlement of Ganin, with both attackers killed. Additional attacks in the West Bank in late July resulted in fatalities and injuries to Israeli soldiers, with assailants neutralized. According to Shin Bet data released at the end of July, the number of significant attacks in Judea and Samaria has declined sharply this year, with four fatalities so far in 2026 compared to 20 in 2025 and 35 in 2024.

The last major attack inside Israel occurred on June 7 in the Sharon area, where a Tayibe resident opened fire at multiple locations, killing a retired sergeant major and injuring five others before being killed in a manhunt.
