Young Man Stabbed Near Jordan Valley Village, Suspected Terror Attack Under Investigation

A man in his 20s was moderately injured in a stabbing attack on Sunday morning near the village of Auja in the Jordan Valley. Israeli military and police forces were dispatched to the scene, and the circumstances of the incident are under investigation. The suspected assailant, believed to be a young man who had stopped in the village for shopping, fled the scene and is currently being pursued.

The stabbing was reported at 09:18 to Magen David Adom's emergency center in the Gilboa region. Paramedics treated the victim, who was conscious and had a stab wound to his upper body, and evacuated him by ambulance to Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem. Emergency medic Gal Shani described the victim's condition as moderate but stable.

This attack follows a period of relative calm in the region after several weeks without significant terror incidents. Recent months saw a decline in attacks in Judea and Samaria, with only two major incidents in May and June compared to six in March. Earlier incidents in the West Bank included a severe stabbing near Alon Moreh and a fatal attack near the village of Tel in Samaria, where two Israeli security personnel were killed. The assailants in those cases were neutralized.

According to Shin Bet data released at the end of July, four people have been killed in terror attacks in Judea and Samaria so far in 2026, down from 20 in 2025 and 35 in 2024. The last major attack inside Israel occurred on June 7 in the Sharon area, when a gunman from Tayibe killed one reserve sergeant and injured five others before being killed in a manhunt.

The ongoing search for the suspect near Auja continues as security forces work to prevent further violence in the area.
