Extreme Heat Persists Across Most of Israel Despite Slight Temperature Drop

Israel is experiencing heavy to extreme heat burdens across most regions despite a slight decrease in temperatures, particularly in the mountains and inland areas. On Wednesday, the weather was mostly clear with temperatures remaining above average and dry conditions prevailing in the mountains and inland, while the coastal plain enjoyed mild weather. The Israel Meteorological Service issued a red alert for extreme heat in several areas including the Beit She'an Valley, the Kinneret Basin, the Jordan Valley, northern and southern Judean Desert, the Dead Sea, and the Arava.

The forecast for Thursday predicts partly cloudy to clear skies with a further slight temperature drop mainly in the mountains and inland, though it will still be somewhat warmer than usual in these areas and mild along the coast. Heavy to extreme heat burdens will continue across most of the country. By Friday, temperatures are expected to decrease further to seasonal norms, with a noticeable easing of the heat. There is also a chance of light rain or drizzle, mostly in northern and central Israel.

Specific temperature forecasts for Wednesday include Jerusalem at 20-33°C, Tel Aviv 26-32°C, Beersheba 24-34°C, Haifa 26-31°C, Tiberias 25-36°C, Safed 23-37°C, and Eilat 30-41°C. The heatwave is expected to gradually subside by the weekend, bringing some relief to the affected regions.
