Rabbi Arush Urges Spiritual Travel Only Amid Tragic Death of Grandson

During the funeral of his grandson, Shalom Seginer, Rabbi Shalom Arush addressed the recent tragedies affecting the ultra-Orthodox community in Israel and abroad. He emphasized the need for spiritual strengthening and vigilance during the "bein hazmanim" period, traditionally a time of increased risk. Rabbi Arush warned against complacency and urged all of Israel, including children, to engage in Torah study even during holidays, stating, "There is no freedom from the Torah. The deceased are free, but there is no freedom from the Torah."

He further clarified his stance on travel abroad during this sensitive time, advising the public to avoid non-essential trips and to travel only for spiritual purposes, such as visiting the graves of righteous figures. He specifically mentioned telling his daughter to visit the grave of the Lubavitcher Rebbe. The funeral procession for Shalom Seginer began at the "Chut Shel Chesed" yeshiva in Jerusalem and proceeded to the Mount of Olives cemetery, where thousands from the family, community, and wider public gathered to pay their respects. Attempts to resuscitate Seginer by rescue teams in Mexico had unfortunately failed.

Rabbi Arush's remarks highlight a call for communal spiritual awakening and caution during a period marked by sorrow and loss in the ultra-Orthodox sector.
