Funeral of 4-Year-Old Shalom Seginer Returns to Israel After Drowning in Mexico

Three days after the tragic drowning of 4-year-old Shalom Seginer in San Jose del Cabo, Mexico, his coffin is en route to Israel following coordinated efforts by ZAKA and the Israeli Foreign Ministry. Shalom was the grandson of Rabbi Shalom Arush, head of the 'Thread of Kindness' institutions, named after him. The family was visiting Mexico when the child drowned under unfortunate circumstances.

ZAKA’s international unit worked closely with the Foreign Ministry and local Mexican authorities to expedite the repatriation process. Thanks to their efforts, the child’s body was released for burial without an autopsy after legal and bureaucratic procedures were completed. The coffin was flown via a private flight from Mexico to New York and then directly to Ben Gurion Airport in Israel.

The funeral procession will begin Tuesday at 11:30 AM from the 'Thread of Kindness' yeshiva on Shmuel Hanavi Street in Jerusalem, proceeding to the Mount of Olives cemetery for burial. The family and community are preparing for the mourning period following the burial. This tragic event has deeply shocked the Israeli public and the religious community connected to Rabbi Arush’s institutions.
