Thousands Attend Funeral of Rabbi Shalom Arush’s Grandson Who Drowned in Mexico

Thousands gathered in Jerusalem to mourn the passing of four-year-old Shalom Seginer, grandson of Rabbi Shalom Arush, who tragically drowned in a swimming pool in Mexico over the weekend. The boy’s coffin was flown back to Israel and arrived early Tuesday morning at Ben Gurion Airport. The funeral procession began at the Chut Shel Chesed Yeshiva on Shmuel Hanavi Street, led by Rabbi Arush.

During the funeral, Rabbi Arush delivered a heartfelt eulogy in tears, expressing faith and gratitude to God beside his grandson’s bed. Family members and a large crowd joined in emotional singing and weeping. A particularly moving moment occurred when the boy’s teacher sang the Hebrew alphabet aloud, recalling that Shalom was meant to be learning these letters at the yeshiva now, but would instead study them in the afterlife.

The funeral procession then proceeded to the Mount of Olives cemetery in Jerusalem, where Shalom Seginer was laid to rest. The event was marked by deep sorrow and expressions of faith from the ultra-Orthodox community and family members.
