Rabbi Shalom Arush Leads Funeral for Grandson Who Drowned in Mexico Vacation

Shalom Seginer, a four-year-old boy who tragically drowned during a family vacation in Mexico, was laid to rest at the Mount of Olives cemetery in Jerusalem. His grandfather, Rabbi Shalom Arush, head of the Chut Shel Chesed institutions, was by his bedside and accompanied him on his final journey. The boy's coffin was transported from Ben Gurion Airport by ZAKA ambulance, led by Yosef Chaim Hozi, deputy commander of ZAKA Beit Shemesh.

Rabbi Arush and his son, Rabbi Shmuel Arush, escorted the coffin from the Chut Shel Chesed institutions to the burial site. During the funeral procession, mourners broke into tears while singing "Rabbenu Sha'ag Bekol Gadol" (Our Rabbi Roared Loudly). A poignant moment occurred when Rabbi Arush sang the "Song of the Letters," becoming overcome with emotion and unable to stop crying.

Shalom was the son of Rabbi Asaf and Rivka Seginer and the grandson of Rabbi Shalom Arush. He drowned in a pool while the family was vacationing in Mexico. Despite prolonged resuscitation efforts by local rescue teams, his death was confirmed. The funeral was marked by heartfelt prayers and songs, reflecting the family's Breslov Hasidic faith and their wish for others to joyfully follow their spiritual path as Shalom did.
