Grandson of Rabbi Arush Dies in Mexico, Body Returned to Israel for Burial

A tragic incident occurred in Mexico where four-year-old Shalom Seginer, grandson of Rabbi Shalom Arush, drowned during a family vacation. Despite prolonged resuscitation efforts by local rescue teams, the child was pronounced dead at the scene. Shalom is the son of Rabbi Asaf and Rivka Seginer.

Following the incident, the international unit of ZAKA and the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs worked closely with the family to facilitate the repatriation of the child's body to Israel. They successfully prevented an autopsy and completed the necessary procedures with Mexican authorities. Shalom's coffin was flown by private plane from Mexico to New York and is expected to arrive in Israel early tomorrow morning around 7:00 AM.

The funeral is scheduled to take place in Jerusalem at 11:30 AM, departing from the Chut Shel Chesed Yeshiva and proceeding to the Mount of Olives cemetery. Yossi Landau, commander of ZAKA's Lachish region, emphasized the organization's ongoing support for the family during this difficult time. Chaim Wingarten, ZAKA's deputy operations director, noted that ZAKA volunteers have been assisting families through multiple tragedies both in Israel and abroad during the recent holiday period, ensuring respect for the deceased and aiding in burial arrangements.
