16-Year-Old Dies in Western Galilee Cave While Rappelling

A 16-year-old boy died Sunday evening after falling during a rappelling activity in Keshet Cave, a cliff approximately 40-50 meters high in the Western Galilee. The incident was reported at 18:10 to Magen David Adom's 101 emergency center in the Asher region. Israeli police from Nahariya station responded to the scene following reports of a fall suspected to have occurred during rappelling. Emergency medical and rescue teams, including an Israeli Air Force rescue helicopter, were dispatched to the site.

The Galil Carmel rescue unit located the unconscious boy inside the cave. Paramedics from Magen David Adom's intensive care team, who also volunteer in the rescue unit, descended into the cave using rappelling techniques. Despite providing advanced medical treatment and performing resuscitation efforts, the paramedics were forced to declare the boy dead at the scene. Paramedics Mimon Gabay and Ligel Dror described the victim as unconscious, pulseless, and not breathing, with severe bodily injuries.
