16-Year-Old Dies in West Galilee Cave While Rappelling Near Keshet Cave

A 16-year-old boy died on Sunday evening after falling from a significant height while rappelling near Keshet Cave in the Western Galilee. The incident was reported to Magen David Adom (MDA) at 18:10, prompting paramedics from the intensive care and rescue units to descend to the site using rappelling techniques due to difficult terrain. Upon reaching the boy, they found him unconscious, without pulse or breathing, and suffering from severe multi-system trauma. Despite advanced resuscitation efforts, the medical teams declared his death at the scene.

This tragic event adds to a deadly day in the region, which also saw the deaths of two other children: a 12-year-old who drowned in the Jordan River and a 5-year-old who died after being left in a vehicle in Lod. The Keshet Cave area remains a popular but potentially hazardous site for outdoor activities such as rappelling, underscoring the risks involved.

Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fall, while emergency services remind the public to exercise caution during outdoor recreational activities, especially in challenging environments like caves and rivers.
