16-Year-Old Dies After Falling 35 Meters During Caves Tour in Galilee

A tragic accident occurred in the Galilee region on Sunday when a 16-year-old boy fell approximately 35 meters while rappelling in the Keshet Cave. The boy was with his family at the time of the fall and was found unconscious in a difficult terrain area. Due to the location and depth of the fall, rescue teams initially could not reach him directly and had to conduct a complex extraction operation.

Rescue forces, including the elite airborne Unit 669 and volunteer police rescue units, were dispatched to the scene. They operated under challenging conditions using specialized equipment to reach and evacuate the boy. Upon reaching him, medical teams found him without signs of life and despite advanced medical efforts, including resuscitation attempts, his death was confirmed at the site.

Paramedics Mimon Gabay and Ligel Dror from Magen David Adom reported that the boy was found unconscious, without pulse or breathing, and with severe injuries. After confirming his death, the rescue teams proceeded to remove his body from the location. The incident highlights the dangers of outdoor activities in rugged areas and the challenges faced by rescue teams in such environments.
