Teen Dies in Caving Accident at Keshet Cave as Rescue Teams Recover Body

A 16-year-old boy died after falling from a height while rappelling in Keshet Cave near Adamit on Sunday afternoon. Rescue teams initially could not access the site, and upon arrival, they confirmed the boy's death. It is estimated he fell from a height of 30 to 40 meters. Unit 669 was dispatched to assist in recovering the body. Paramedics Mimon Gabay and Ligel Dror reported that despite advanced medical treatment and resuscitation attempts, the boy was found unconscious, without pulse or breathing, and with severe injuries.

Earlier on the same day, a 12-year-old boy drowned after capsizing a boat in the Jordan River near Yesod HaMa'ala. After extensive searches involving fire and rescue teams, police, and other agencies, the boy was found lifeless by the Golan rescue unit. Paramedics Asaf Perlman and Harel Levi confirmed he was underwater and unresponsive upon rescue, and death was declared.

This marks the second tragic incident involving children on the same day. A five-year-old boy was found unconscious inside a car in Lod after reportedly being left there for an extended period. Despite resuscitation efforts at Shamir Medical Center, doctors declared his death. Prof. Eran Kotzer, head of the pediatric emergency department, urged parents to always check the back seat before leaving the vehicle and recommended using technological aids to prevent such incidents. He extended condolences to the bereaved families.
